Does rice have a good amount of nutrition or not?

August 20, 2008 · Filed Under Nutrition

I see that a lot of Asians eat rice and they are small boned with not too much meat on them. So is rice just like a side dish: something you shouldn't depend on for vitamins?

Whenever I eat rice I have to consume at least 3 or 4 bowls; rice just doesn't seem to satisfy my hunger. I also don't feel like I am getting very much nutrition out of it.

Brown rice has more nutrition and fiber. White rice is just rice with the outer coating removed so it loses fiber and nutrition, but many people prefer white to brown rice. Brown rice takes more water and time to cook and is not fluffy as white rice.

Not white rice. They actually have to add vitamins back into, kind of like what they do to milk.

    Brown rice is very nutritious
