Does rice have a good amount of nutrition or not?

August 20, 2008 · Filed Under Nutrition · 2 Comments

I see that a lot of Asians eat rice and they are small boned with not too much meat on them. So is rice just like a side dish: something you shouldn't depend on for vitamins?

Whenever I eat rice I have to consume at least 3 or 4 bowls; rice just doesn't seem to satisfy my hunger. I also don't feel like I am getting very much nutrition out of it.

Brown rice has more nutrition and fiber. White rice is just rice with the outer coating removed so it loses fiber and nutrition, but many people prefer white to brown rice. Brown rice takes more water and time to cook and is not fluffy as white rice.

what is the difference between an orange and a grapefruit? nutrition wise?

August 19, 2008 · Filed Under Nutrition · 6 Comments

when you read about different diets, for breakfast you see eat half a grapefruit, why is it a grapefruit and not an orange? whats the difference in nutrition between the two?

They are very close to each other in terms of nutrition.

Pink grapefruit has more Vitamin A than orange, that's about it.

Grapefruit:
The Good
This food is very low in Saturated Fat, Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a good source of Dietary Fiber, and a very good source of Vitamin A and Vitamin C.

The Bad
A large portion of the calories in this food come from sugars.

Orange

The Bad

August 17, 2008 · Filed Under Nutrition · 3 Comments

this is for a cosmetology report on hair care. I need to report on how nutrition affects hair and why protein is important in your diet.

Please help me with this question, i can not find it anywhere, not even in the cosmetology book

what u put into your body will show on the outside, for instance using drugs eventually show on the outside, and the saqme goes for food, drinking more water makes your skin have a healthier glow and helps get rid of peoples andmakes your urine less yellow, nutrition is good for your hair because as it grows it will have all those vitamins and what not, protein is good for your hair because it makes it stronger, you know, the same goes for building muscle eat lots of protein and the same goes for the hair!!!!! i take hair skin and nail vitamins and my hair is a lot stonger and healthier, i am able to keep the hair i grow without it breaking off!!!!!

Where can I find information on the nutrition and how to cultivate different mushrooms?

August 16, 2008 · Filed Under Nutrition · 3 Comments

I love mushrooms and my wife is moving us toward a diet with less meat and dairy (per her research on nutrition including having read The China Study), so I thought it would be fun to cultivate mushrooms. Maybe Shiitake and Portablella but before we choose which, I would like help in determining which have the most health benefits (including if you cook them do you remove their benefits) and which you can grow on your own.

try these:

What is the best nutrition supplier for bodybuilders?

August 15, 2008 · Filed Under Nutrition · 2 Comments

From GNC, to Megaplex, to Animal there are soo many nutrition suppliers which one is the leader and most used among professional body builders?

It really doesnt matter where you get it, just what you're getting. Most of the products are the same, just vary slightly in ingredients. Optimum Nutrition's whey protein has always been on the top of the bodybuilding supplement list, and for obvious reasons. I ordered myself a 5lb tub of it and it was the best I ever had. They introduced it into the market first after all. For creatine, Higher Power is ranked #1. NO Shotgun still reigns supreme for Nitric Oxide. GNC, DPS Nutrition, even Sams Club carries bodybuilding products.
